Green Lighthouse

"Green Lighthouse", the University of Copenhagen’s ‘climate-friendly’ showcase building, was opened on 20 October 2009.

The vision for "Green Lighthouse" is a sustainable building with minimal CO2 emissions, since the construction sector is one of the most energy-consuming of all sectors. "Green Lighthouse" will be the main centre for students and staff of the Faculty of Science and will house the study administration, faculty club, meeting facilities and the student service and other facilities.

The concept for the building is a sundial, as a theme from science. The building design is based on the changing qualities, hues and intensity of daylight both over the course of a day and the year, and aims to achieve plentiful natural illumination. "Green Lighthouse" is built by VELUX in association with among others VELFAC and WindowMaster. Architect: Christensen og Co Arkitekter a/s.
