Active House on climate exhibition
On 8 October 2009 the Danish Minister for Environment Connie Hedegaard visited the VKR Group’s Active House exhibition at the Botanical Garden & Museum - the Natural History Museum of Denmark.

Connie Hedegaard is shown how the energy production of Home for Life can be read from a screen special-designed by WindowMaster.

”The climate debate suffers from a Cassandra complex.” With these words Connie Hedegaard started her speech when she opened the special exhibition at the Natural History Museum of Denmark focusing on climate change. She made a historical reference to Greek mythology in which Apollo placed a curse on Cassandra so that nobody would believe her predictions. This very complex is dealt with at the exhibition.

Scientific documentation and specific solutions
The exhibition is made of two parts. One part represents the scientific approach to climate and climate change and documents climate change through scientific proof. The other part presents specific solutions to how to deal with future climate challenge by for instance using various energy sources and building environmentally friendly and energy producing houses.

In this other part of the exhibition the VKR Group presents the Active House with a focus on the Simonsen family’s experiences during their first months in the Home for Life. In her opening speech Connie Hedegaard emphasised some of the strengths of the exhibition in that it documents climate change and points out what each and every one of us can do to make a difference. Following her speech the minister was taken round the VKR Group’s exhibition and thus shown in more detail how we can help meet the climate challenge by building to the Active House principle.
