An Active House is designed with a focus on adapting to the distinctive features and climatic conditions of its location. An Active House takes account of formations in the built environment and vegetation in the natural environment, and draws on local building traditions and local construction materials as design parameters. The design of the house in terms of its energy performance must be matched with the local energy supply system and structure.
Local climatic conditions are also taken into account, with factors such as solar orientation and prevailing winds incorporated as design parameters. Annual and diurnal cycles are factored into and around the house, combined with a focus on harmonising indoor and outdoor features. An Active House offers an ideal setting for interaction and blending with the surroundings, with minimal impact on the natural environment. |
