The design focus of Active House is low energy consumption and self-sufficiency in the energy required for home heating, hot water, ventilation and lighting. The house generates renewable energy and is therefore CO2 neutral.
The low energy consumption is achieved through a holistic solution in which the intelligently controlled dynamic facades are combined with energy-optimised elements such as the latest generation of roof windows and vertical windows, a new combination of solar heating and heat pump technology and natural ventilation. The holistic solution makes it possible to adapt the building to annual and diurnal rhythms, and all combined, to make it independent of energy from external sources.
