VELUX STIFTUNG was established in 1980 with the objective of supporting research on daylight and its importance to people. Another important objective of the foundation is to support medical research in the areas of gerontology, geriatrics and ophthalmology.

The foundation, which is based in Switzerland, also provides support for environmental projects with special focus on the ecological balance in nature, e.g. in the forestry area.
